Charlie & Annie: Commemorative Singalong

The Wild Hog in the Woods and the Madison Folk Music Society are combining to honor the memory of folk music aficionado Mike Tuten with a free Memorial Community Singalong Concert led by two of North America's best-loved activist folksingers, Annie Patterson and Charlie King.

Annie Patterson (with her husband Peter Blood) compiled the Folk songbooks Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, and has led sings all over the country.  Copies of their songbooks and CDs will be available for sale. Annie is also an accomplished interpreter of traditiional Celtic and Appalachian music and jazz vocalist.
Charlie King has been making great music for more than 40 years, initially as part of Bright Morning Star, and later with Karen Brandow, Rick Burkardt, Bev Grant, Reggie Harris and others - including house concerts at Mike Tuten’s.  His songs include topical parodies, and both sing songs of social significance — with great choruses!

Charlie and Annie have often recorded & performed together, including Annie's vocals on Charlie's 2017 CD "Life & Love, Tears & Laughter". They are releasing a new live album "Step by Step" early in 2019 and are taking these songs on the road for three weeks in March.

Mike Tuten served as president of MadFolk for a decade, was the “Betty” in the Oak Apple Morris Team, and more recently had hosted well attended house concerts in his basement, which he had redesigned for that purpose.  And he loved to sing!

So join the Hog and MadFolk in honoring this stalwart of the Madison Folk Music scene who has gone on to join the Angel Band.
