Matthews is an African American singer songwriter and social justice activist.
She received the New Song Music and Performance Competition grand prize winner at the Lincoln Center in 2017. Matthews also won the People’s Music Network’s Social Justice Songs contest at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance.
