Annie Patterson & Peter Blood, the creators of Rise Up Singing and their 2015 sequel Rise Again are coming to Toronto! This is a chance to meet the people who "wrote the book" and learn some of the 1200 additional songs in their new songbook. Annie & Peter will be joined for this evening concert by guest artists Katherine Wheatley, James Gordon, and Sam Turton, all of whom have great songs in Rise Again.
BUY TICKETS NOW! (from Brown Paper tickets - space is limited and we are expecting this concert to sell out)
This concert will celebrate the life & work of Pete Seeger (next year will be the 100th anniversary of his birth) and the many terrific musicians who are working to build a better world through music. Pete played a crucial role in the creation of both songbooks. Copies of a wide array of Seeger CDs will be available for sale at the concert, along with copies of his autobiography, Where Have All the Flowers Gone: A Singalong Memoir (which Seeger asked Peter to edit).
This is also a chance to acknowledge and shed a light on some of the many groups in the area working for peace and justice. Proceeds from the concert will help support the Toronto Quaker Refugee Committee.
The artists will be teaching and leading songs out of Rise Again during the concert. If you have a copy of Rise Again, bring it with you. Copies will be available to borrow or buy at the concert.
Admission at the door will be for a suggested donation of $25-35 for adults ("Be generous! Be affordable!") Free to refugees and those under 18. No one turned away for limited funds.
